The Gauthier Family:
Our family has been training at The Center of Harmony since it opened in October of 2007. Enduring the challenge and satisfaction of learning a martial art together is a bonding experience and training has brought a new dynamic to our family. We support each other and cheer each other on while we strive to harmonize our minds and bodies.
As parents, we can appreciate how hard our sons work in their class because we train as well. We have insight into the challenges that they face (learning new forms, knuckle push-ups, preparing for a belt test, etc…) as well as the joy of meeting ones goal and advancing to the next gup level. We are proud of how strong and disciplined they have become.
We think that it is important for our sons to realize that throughout life they will never stop learning. To that end, it sets a great example for them to see us going through the rigors of learning Tang Soo Do and Haidong Gumdo. They see that we too need to practice in order to hone our abilities, and just because we are older than they are does not mean it comes more easily to us.
When we first began training, we had no preconceived notion of how long we’d stick to it. We agree that back then we probably just hoped to make it to our first belt promotion. We could not have predicted how satisfying training in a martial art can be. Now five belt promotions later, we hope to someday become a family of black belts! -Mrs. Terri Gauthier (Stephen and the boys train in Tang Soo Do and Terri is a student of Haidong Gumdo)
